The Ride: 1953 Studebaker Champion
The Search: Zola Hansen's dad gave her the car, which she has owned for 52 years. As teenagers, she and now-husband Carl took the car on a few dates.
Upgrades: The Studebaker was parked in a storage lot in the mid-80's and turned into a rust heap. Stan Holcomb, past president of the Texas Hill Country Studebaker Drivers Club, urged the couple to restore the car. It took three years to find or fabricate parts that needed to be replaced. Rik King and Lane Johnson of Street Rod Concepts in Clute, Texas did the body work and mechanics, and the car was completed in May 2010.
